At this time there will be no further planned meetings for the Halifax Diabetes Support Group.
Five people met on February 21st 2007 at the CDA offices and seven people met on May 2nd 2007 at the VG site (Dickson Building).
We sent a survey to our 140+ contacts list and had 10 responses.
The Group has been meeting over the past 6 or 7 years at various places.
It has been difficult to find a date, time and place to suit everyone.
The past three years the group has met at irregular dates and places with little success in determining if the group was meeting people's needs.
While the three to five people who came out, I believe found the time well spent.
The webmaster, Frank Gummett plans to continue updating this website and we hope you will visit it often to look for community support, articles, and events happening in our area.
Perhaps someone will start the group again at some future time.
Thank you to everyone at the Diabetes Education Centres, Canadian Diabetes Association, and all who have come out to support one another.
Wishing everyone good health.
Take care.

Did You Know..?
an A1C of 7% is NOT the same as an average Blood Glucose of 7.0mmol/L
...it actually correlates to an average Blood Glucose of 9.5mmol/L
BUT just a 1% drop in A1C reduces the likelihood of eye, kidney and nerve damage by 37%!

Paws 4 Thought...
"Falling off the wagon is not the problem... it's how far you fall, and how long you stay off that really matters..."
|
For a rough conversion of US Blood Sugar Units :
90 mg/dL = 5 mmol/L
126 mg/dL = 7 mmol/L
180 mg/dL = 10 mmol/L
